Why is my invoice different from my quote?
Why a final invoice can legitimately differ from the original quote.
An invoice reflects what actually happened, so it can differ from the estimate — usually for good reasons:
- You already paid part of it. Pay orders collected during delivery are credited, so the invoice's net payable is lower than the headline total.
- Pass-through costs were added. Government fees or deposits incurred during the work appear on the invoice.
- Scope changed and the firm agreed a revision with you.
The invoice total is built as: net payable = total charges + service fee − already paid.
