Collect Payments
Raise pay orders during delivery, record payments made directly to you, and understand settlements.
Fingaon gives you two ways to collect money during an engagement, plus a clear settlement of what reaches your account.
Pay orders (on-platform)
Raise a pay order to collect a specific amount during delivery. Each has a type that tells the client what it's for:
- Government fee — a statutory fee you remit to an authority.
- Statutory deposit — a deposit the work requires.
- Third party — a cost paid to an external party.
- Milestone — a staged payment for a phase of work.
- Reimbursement — a cost you incurred on the client's behalf.
Each pay order moves through:
Whatever the client pays is credited on the final invoice, so they never pay twice. See Pay Order vs Invoice.
External payments (paid directly to you)
If a client pays you outside Fingaon — UPI, bank transfer, cheque, cash — record it as an external payment so your books and the client's stay in sync. It's marked REPORTED, then VERIFIED once confirmed (the client may be asked to confirm before it settles).
Settlements
On-platform collections are settled to your account net of the platform fee. Pass-through charges (government fees, deposits) are remitted in full with no platform fee, while your professional fee carries the commission. For multi-provider service packages, this commission is calculated based only on the specific components you fulfilled. Review your effective rate and payouts under Settlements. See Platform fees.
Tip
Mark each charge's nature correctly — pass-through vs revenue — when you build the quote. It's what keeps GST and the platform fee off money that's merely passing through to an authority.
